Beach Baptism

Ben (in this picture) was the first person I baptized in the ocean and the first person we baptized at Elevate Church.

We have another opportunity this Sunday if you haven't been baptized.

Sunday, May 3rd @ La Jolla Shores 11:30am.

We invite everyone at Elevate to come for food, volleyball, fellowship, the beach, and we are planning to baptize anyone who wants to follow through on that command by Jesus.

What is Baptism?

Baptism is your chance to tell the world of your commitment to Jesus.

Reasons to be Baptized:

1) It is an outward expression of your inner commitment to follow Jesus.

2) Jesus was baptized - Matthew 3:13-16 says that Jesus was baptized. If we say we want to be like Jesus, then baptism puts the action to our words.

3) It is a picture of the death and resurrection of Jesus as it pertains to you. (i.e. your old life has died and now you are raised to a new life in Christ) Romans 6:4-5

4) The best reason of all: Jesus commands us to be baptized as a follower of Jesus. The last words of Jesus on this earth included "Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them..." (Matthew 28:19-20; 1 John 2:3). My best advice is to simply obey Jesus. It really is that simple.
