I finished reading Wide Awake by Erwin McManus while on vacation last week. Here are some highlights:
- "People are the most underused and undervalued resource on the planet."
- "Very few are meant for a life of notoriety, yet all of us are meant for a life of significance."
- "We should never confuse fame with greatness. The former is about what you do for yourself; the latter is about what you do for others."
- "Long before I was looking for God, He was looking for me."
- "Sometimes the limitations you are willing to accept establish the boundaries of your existence."
- "The bigger people dream, the bigger they tend to live."
- "The future needs you to dream God-sized dreams; these are the only kind God gets involved in."
- "If God gives you a dream for your life, it will come to pass if you choose to courageously pursue it, not because you become a salesman for it."
- "Sometimes we think that if we leave everything we know, it's going to get worse from here. But it is possible you'll never find greater contentment or joy or exhilaration until you're willing to give up what you know and what you have for what awaits and exists in the unknown."
- "Know what it's called when you think you have to experience everything before you can actually know better? It's called stupidity."
- "You are not called to settle for the good life; you are called to a life of greatness."
- "A life of faith is a life of expectation."
- " Faith is about conviction, while hope is about confidence. Faith grounds us in the certainty of God's faithfulness, and hope pulls us into the mystery of God's future."
- "If nothing can stop God, then who can stop you when you are pursuing him and living for His purpose?"
- "Moses was leaning forward toward the future rather than holding on to the past."
- "The unknown with God is always better than the known without Him."
