I had the privilege to write an article for Lifeway Pastors. You can read the full article here.

Several years ago, my wife and I decided to make one of the biggest decisions of our lives – we moved to the other side of the country to start a church. When we say we started from scratch, we literally started from scratch. We didn’t know anyone in the city where we moved. We had no potential prospects of who might attend our church or be on our launch team.

Our closest family and friends would be 2,000 miles away. We weren’t sure it would work. In many ways, we had no idea what we were getting ourselves into. Starting a church across the country has been one of our greatest privileges and greatest challenges.

Check out the four questions to consider before moving across the country in this Lifeway Pastor Article.

We are in a pivotal time in our country and a polarizing election upon us. The series we start this Sunday at Elevate Church could not be more timely and bring more LIGHT during a time of such change and uncertainty.
Join us for the kick off of “UNDER GOD?”

What dominates the headlines doesn’t have to dominate our hearts. There’s only ONE name that can bring the world together, and you won’t find it on a ballot. Are you ready to discover the hope and freedom we’ve been given Under God?

Throughout this series, we will discover what it means as the people of God to be a holy nation, under God’s authority, completely indivisible, and filled with grace and truth.

Daylight Savings is this weekend and you get an EXTRA hour of sleep Saturday night!

This is a perfect opportunity to be at church and bring someone with you who can use HOPE during uncertain times.

Can’t wait to kick off this series at Elevate Church this weekend!

Note To My Wife

June 7, 2016

FullSizeRenderA few weeks ago at Elevate Church, I shared something before Susan spoke that I wanted to share here as well.  I’m incredibly grateful for my wife. It’s not her birthday, or Mother’s Day, or our anniversary. It’s just a day I want to honor the woman in my life that means so much to me. I wouldn’t be where I am without her. Thanks babe for loving me the way you do!

By the way, if it looks on the outside like we have a perfect marriage you are wrong. Social media will do that. It makes every marriage look like a walk in the park when in reality most are struggling.

We argue, fuss, and fight like most. The only difference is we keep fighting FOR each other. Anyone can do that. When you feel like it. When you don’t. It’s a love that truly is worth fighting FOR.

Here’s the note I shared to honor and appreciate my beautiful wife:

Today we get the privilege to hear from my wife. She is the mother of our four children and a spiritual mother over this house. Many of you have no idea how much she has prayed for you, for this church. There have been days I have gone home where she is physically sick because of the spiritual battle that she has fought on your behalf. Not a day goes by that we don’t talk about and she doesn’t think about how do we love better, reach more, make a greater a difference, reach our full potential as a church. She has labored both physically and spiritually for this House and our House. In between ball practices, homework, gymnastics, laundry, cleaning, wiping, smelling, and parenting…She leads one of our most attended connect groups where regularly she comes home on Tuesday nights and shares with me all God has done in another one of their group meetings where ladies lives are being changed by the power of Christ. Not one major decision in this church happens apart from her counsel, wisdom, prayers, and insight.

She is beautiful inside and out. I’ve never seen someone care as deeply for those far from God than my wife does. I have never seen someone radiate the glow of Jesus as she does so often. I have never seen someone pray as fervently and powerfully as she has. I am a better man because of her. A better husband because she is easy to love. A better father because she is such an incredible mother. She has believed in me when others haven’t. She has stood by me in the darkest days and the best days. She is my best friend, lover, wife, mother over our house and this house. She is a testimony of God’s grace and power. She is like David taken from tending sheep to being used in most unlikely and powerful ways.

Proverbs 31:10 says, Who can find an excellent wife? She is far more valuable than jewels?” Well, I want to tell Solomon I have found her! You are my wife, lover, and best friend.

Proverbs 31:30-31 says, Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. 31 Honor her for all that her hands have done, Let her deeds publicly declare her praise.  Today, we honor you in God’s House for all He has done and is doing in your life!
